About Us
Meet the women behind Florence May...
Say hello to Simone & Robyne - the mother/daughter duo behind Florence May Intimates.
We pride ourselves on our 'old school' style of lingerie store. That's why we've created a soft, feminine and welcoming haven at Florence May Intimates, where you always feel comfortable and relaxed.
About Simone
Simone's prior career was assisting women post-breast cancer treatment as a lymphoedema therapist and wellbeing specialist in private practice and major cancer treatment centres across Sydney.
She is degree qualified in Health Science and holds additonal qualifications in Clinical Nutrition, Naturopathy and Remedial Massage.
She is a trained bra fitter, specialising in mastectomy, prostheses and compression garments.
Simone made the permanent move from Sydney to Mudgee two years' ago to establish Florence May Intimates with her mother Robyne, to provide a much-needed service for women in the Central West and beyond.
Simone brings a depth of experience rarely seen in the lingerie industry and is here to support women across every life age and stage. She brings this knowledge to every fitting at Florence May Intimates.
About Robyne
Robyne’s background is in retail, having spent several years managing a fashion boutique in Sydney. Robyne has many years' customer service experience.
She is a Mudgee local who discovered there were no specialty lingerie boutiques in the area and together with her daughter Simone, created Florence May Intimates.
Robyne is also qualified in human resources and has a special interest in women's equality and development in the workplace. She brings this experience and empathy to every fitting.
Robyne is a trained bra fitter and finds it particularly satisfying to see a woman thrilled with her perfectly fitting lingerie.
Florence May - the lady behind the name
The woman who inspired Florence May Intimates - the formidable, glamourous and adventurous Florence May herself!
Florence was the matriarch of our family (Robyne's mum & Simone's grandmother) and she was pure elegance and style all the way. A force to be reckoned with, Florence was born in 1920 and left her small country town near Dubbo at age 19 to try her luck in Sydney.
She lost her husband at a young age and became dedicated to rising through the ranks in the male-dominated fashion industry, ultimately becoming Head Buyer for a major Sydney department store, and owning her own ladies fashion boutique well into her 70s. She travelled the world and brought back beautiful trinkets.
Florence was total class - even in her 90s, her hair and make-up were always perfect and clothes were the height of fashion at the time. She passed away quietly at age 97, with her daughter by her side.
